the granite is in

I kinda feel like I'm dying right now. I only have a cold but being 37 weeks pg and having a cold seems to be oh so much worse. So please pardon the brevity but I'm going to bed after I post these pics!

The kitchen is very grey now. The grey walls matched with the grey counters makes the room look kinda like a stormy sky, but I know that will all change once the counters are lined with items, towels, a light fixture and a curtain is hung. Right now I'm just happy that in 2 days the kitchen will be pretty much complete!

Running water, under cabinet lights and working oven due at the end of the week!

the end is in sight!

Dumpster, gone. Mess in the kitchen, gone. Blender in the nursery, gone. We're doing a happy dance over here. The house is starting to look like a house again instead of a construction zone.
Here are some "cleaned up" photos.

The under-cabinet lights are being installed tomorrow as well as a whole new electric panel. We're getting a few more outlets installed around the house too. We don't want to have extension cords running all over the house when the little guy is here. The plumber needs to come to hook up the sink and oven. In two weeks the granite will be here! It's called Azul Noche- sounds exotic doesn't it? It will look something like this:

Since all the cabinets are in, we were able to clear out the nursery. Here's what it looked like two days ago:

And here's a sneak peak of what it looks like now. Still lots to do but it's much better than before!

I'm just happy that the baby won't have to sleep next to my cookbooks and spatulas.

Welcome to the Danger Zone

People have been asking to see pictures of the kitchen progress so here ya go. You need to look past the DISASTER of a room that is the kitchen. Use your imagination as to what it will look like once it's cleaned up.

Here's our low rider after Dave's Ikea run.

The new range and wall color. We chose Olympic's "Dover Gray," which is 100% VOC-free so safe for mom and baby!

Microwave's in and we can use it via extension cord (we currently have no electricity in the kitchen). The range, microwave and dishwasher are all KitchenAid. We thought they were good looking as far as appliances go. They get good reviews and have some fun bells and whistles. It's sad how much I enjoy "cooking" now.

So, it's getting there! This weekend we're off to pick out granite. Nope, we haven't done that yet and don't really know what we want either. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute!
